As highlighted in this recent Arch Daily article, green roofs are finding a place in Hollywood. Films like The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Godzilla, and Source Code have all featured green roofs in a way that is altering the way people view living architecture. These films are giving green roofs a positive association with virtuous characteristics.  For example Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit franchises both depict the protagonist living in homes covered with green roofs.  These characters are a race that is known for their virtuous nature and good spirit.  These hobbits trace their good hearted disposition to their home, The Shire, which features green roofs and dense vegetation throughout.  To learn more about other film connections to green architecture read the Arch Daily article.
